One of the saws I got from my Grandpa was an odd duck. It is smaller in blade height like a dovetail saw, but longer in length. And it has no back. I finally got around to taking some pictures, and I posted them on the LumberJocks forums. Matt Cianci of TheSawBlog posted and told me what I had was a Joiner’s Saw, and that they are rare. I did some more research and this particular one from E.C. Atkins was marketed as a “Handy Saw” (see mention in this ad from 1928). It is filed 12 ppi rip, from my measurements. The blade is 16 7/8″ in length. The nose of the saw was 1 7/8″ high. The heel is 2 1/2″ high.
